I am delighted to be starting my Counseling and Art Therapy practicum training at SOBT Therapy, LLC. Being a part of a group that works with a diverse population of all ages and that is grounded in empathy and positivity will support my professional goals of creating growth and healing for others and also for teaching others how to use creativity and inner wisdom to overcome challenges.

Presently, I am a graduate student at Southwestern College in Santa Fe. The Southwestern College curriculum prepares graduates for multiculturally sensitive therapy using self-reflexive and metacognitive approaches. The intensive consciousness track within the program provides for deep personal and professional growth while inspiring grounded empathy and authentic connection to oneself and others. Incorporating art therapy into my work with others comes as a natural progression of my own artist identity and serves as a third-party subconscious bridge for clarity.
As a young adult, I began my work in using art for healing with my personal journey as an art student. As a practicing artist, I am able to instruct clients how to discover personal mythologies and to glean meaning from their art making. After earning a BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, I focused my art making towards documenting my path inward. After more than a decade of spiritual exploration, I founded a practice that assisted others in discovering their purpose and internal resources for coping and thriving. Since 2013, I have been working with ages 18+ using ancient and modern alternative practices.
Being a part of the community as a volunteer has given me insight into how to work with individuals and families during times of crisis. I was present for families as a volunteer at Faith Hospice in Dallas, Texas, where I served as a respite care worker for imminent patients. Currently, my focus as a community helper is as a volunteer with MESA (Moving to End Sexual Assault) in Boulder County. I serve as a trauma-informed survivor advocate on a hotline and as an assistant facilitator for sexual assault survivor support groups. I am also a part-time clinical support worker for the MESA parent agency, Mental Health Partners.
As a mother to a young adolescent son and two young adult daughters, I have developed a keen sense for how to connect with youth. Using a strengths-based approach and being rooted in a positive psychology framework helps to find ways for enrichment and a positive self-concept. Additionally, I have spent two decades working with adults in various capacities. I mostly focus on life affirming interventions to celebrate one’s life and to learn techniques for stress and anger management, cognitive processing, communication, problem-solving and creating a resonant personal narrative. As a certified hypnotist with the International and Medical Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA), I am able to incorporate guided visualization and mindfulness practices for clients.
Meditation, acupuncture and yoga have assisted me in maintaining a regulated nervous system which enables me to hold a balanced space for clients in crisis, grief, trauma, and despair. Gardening has been a revelation to me as I encounter the magic of nature. Hiking with my dogs and spending time cooking with my husband and children helps me to foster connection with my loved ones. I look forward to partnering with you and/or your child as you all initiate a journey towards healing and wholeness.
